University of Basrah Organizes a Celebration on the Occasion of Arabic Language Day
The Basrah and Arabian Gulf Studies Center at the University of Basrah organized a celebratory event marking Arabic Language Day, entitled:
“From Ḍād the Poem Begins… Arabic in Poetry: The Voice of Identity and the Memory of the Nation.”
The event aimed to highlight the status of the Arabic language and its significance as a vessel for knowledge and sciences, as well as a fundamental pillar of cultural and civilizational identity.
The celebration featured poetic recitations by a distinguished group of Basrah poets, whose verses expressed love for the Arabic language and underscored its value and prestige in commemoration of its World Day.
In a keynote address, the Center’s Director, Dr. Khalid Sakkban Hassan, emphasized the nobility of the Arabic language and its eminent position among world languages, noting its profound influence on literature, sciences, and knowledge throughout the ages.
