University of Basrah Organizes a Workshop on the Role of Water in the Emergence of Ancient Civilizations
The College of Arts at the University of Basrah organized a workshop on the impact of water resources on the emergence of ancient civilizations and their significance in the lives of Arabs prior to Islam.
The workshop aimed to highlight the central importance of water as a fundamental element of life and to demonstrate the close relationship between the rise of human civilizations and the availability of water resources.
The workshop included the presentation of several research papers in which scholars discussed the importance of water in the lives of Arabs before Islam, both in their daily practices and living conditions, particularly in the fields of agriculture and pastoralism. The papers also identified the main water sources relied upon at the time, such as rainfall, wells, springs, natural water outlets, and aflaj systems.
