University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on Electronic Addiction: Types and Treatment Methods
The College of Administration and Economics, in collaboration with the Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah, organized an awareness seminar titled “Electronic Addiction: Its Types, Manifestations, and Treatment Methods”, with the participation of a number of students and staff members.
The seminar aimed to raise awareness about the risks of excessive technology use, identify behaviors indicative of entering the stage of addiction, outline its types, and present practical solutions to mitigate this phenomenon.
The seminar, presented by Dr. Rana Abdullah Mohammed and Dr. Heba Yassin Abdullah, addressed the concept of electronic addiction as the compulsive and excessive use of the Internet and smart devices, and the resulting psychological and behavioral disorders affecting social, professional, and health aspects of life.
The seminar recommended the importance of managing screen time, enhancing family awareness, activating focus-enhancing tools, and seeking professional help when necessary.
