In his opening address, the President of the University of Basrah, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, stated that the university continues to adopt academic projects that promote digital transformation and employ modern technologies to develop the sports sector. He noted that the conference represents an important scientific platform for exchanging expertise and knowledge among researchers and for transforming scientific visions into applied projects that serve society.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, explained that the conference is a pioneering step toward unifying scientific efforts among colleges of physical education and sports sciences in southern Iraqi universities. He emphasized that joint academic cooperation will contribute to advancing scientific research, supporting digital transformation projects in the sports field, and opening new horizons for institutional development that benefit both students and researchers.
This conference is considered the first of its kind in Iraq in terms of the scale of participation and joint organization. It witnessed the attendance of more than 300 researchers from various Iraqi provinces, in addition to wide Arab participation from researchers representing 13 Arab countries, clearly reflecting the leading scientific status achieved by colleges of physical education and sports sciences in Iraq in general, and the University of Basrah in particular.
