University of Basrah Participates in the First Cultural Festival of Biodiversity in Iraq
The Natural History Museum at the University of Basrah participated in the first cultural and scientific festival on biodiversity in Iraq, which was held at the College of Arts as part of a series of scientific and cultural activities aimed at highlighting the importance of biodiversity and its conservation.
The participation aimed to shed light on the richness of the Iraqi environment and the diversity of its living organisms, as well as to promote scientific awareness of the importance of protecting animal species and maintaining ecological balance. It also sought to foster a culture of care for natural resources among university students and visitors.
The museum’s pavilion featured a diverse display of its scientific collections, including skeletal remains, taxidermied animal specimens, and various insect species. These exhibits attracted considerable interest and notable engagement from students and festival attendees, who benefited from the scientific explanations provided by the museum staff.
This participation comes within the framework of the museum’s educational and scientific role in promoting environmental culture and reinforcing the concept of biodiversity as a fundamental component of the sustainability of natural life.
