University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on Children’s Rights Between Reality and Law
The Secretariat of the Central Library at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the College of Arts, organized a seminar entitled “Children’s Rights Between Reality and Law.”
The seminar aimed to introduce the most important laws enacted to protect children and safeguard their rights, as well as to examine the extent to which real-life practices align with the existence of such legislation.
The seminar, which was attended by a number of faculty members from the College of Arts, addressed several key themes, including children’s rights between reality and law in ancient civilizations; children’s rights in the Treatise on Rights by Imam Zayn al-Abidin (peace be upon him); and the rights of Iraqi children between reality and contemporary Iraqi law. The discussions also highlighted the capacity of society and the state to provide protection for children from abuse and to offer the necessary support to help foster a generation free from psychological and physical disorders.
