University of Basrah Participates in the 10th International Conference of the Iraqi Society for Medical Research and Studies
Dr. Zainab Barakat, a faculty member at the College of Medicine, University of Basrah, participated in the 10th International Conference of the Iraqi Society for Medical Research and Studies, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Nofal Ali Al-Mubarak.
Her participation included presenting a research study evaluating mothers’ knowledge and attitudes regarding pregnancy-related risk factors in Basrah Governorate. The study addressed various risk factors, including advanced maternal age, chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart conditions, pregnancy-related complications such as preeclampsia, as well as genetic factors and lifestyle habits such as smoking and caffeine consumption.
The conference aimed to promote scientific research and disseminate knowledge in the fields of medicine and health, as well as to strengthen cooperation among doctors and researchers. This year’s conference focused on women’s health and included the participation of 163 physicians from Iraq, the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Iran, Lebanon, and Bahrain.
