The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized an extensive field scientific visit for third- and fourth-year students of the Department of Animal Production to the university’s hatcheries and broiler production fields operating under the cage system, affiliated with the Agricultural Consulting Office. This visit was conducted as part of the college’s plan to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical applications.
The visit aimed to provide students with hands-on exposure to the stages of receiving eggs designated for incubation, as well as to familiarize them with the administrative and technical aspects of hatchery operations. It also included an explanation of the functioning of incubators and hatchers and the management of eggs throughout the incubation process.
The visit further included a tour of the broiler production fields, during which a scientific explanation was presented on modern rearing systems and the advantages of the cage system, with particular emphasis on the role of genetic factors in improving growth rates and enhancing the productive efficiency of flocks.
