Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines the Efficiency of Sharsh Al-Zalou‘ Plant as a Stimulant for Aged Laying Hens
A master’s thesis submitted to the College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah, entitled “Evaluation of the Efficiency of Sharsh Al-Zalou‘ Root Powder as a Sexual Stimulant for Aged Laying Hens,” investigated the effect of adding root powder of this plant to the diets of laying hens at an advanced age.
The thesis, presented by researcher Ghadraan Kazem Hussein, aimed to examine the impact of different inclusion levels of the root powder on selected productive, physiological, and reproductive traits of aged laying hens.
The study included a field experiment in which 72 aged laying hens were distributed into four experimental treatments, with varying proportions of Sharsh Al-Zalou‘ root powder added to the diet. The results demonstrated a noticeable improvement in productive and physiological performance.
The study recommended incorporating Sharsh Al-Zalou‘ root powder into the diets of aged laying hens due to its positive effects.
