University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on the Use of Fungi and Plants in Pest Control
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a scientific seminar titled “The Use of Fungi and Plants in Pest Control.”
The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of biological and alternative methods in reducing the spread of agricultural pests.
The seminar, presented by Dr. Shatha Fadel Abdul-Said and Dr. In’am Mohammed Hussein, reviewed the types of fungi and plants used in pest control and explained the mechanisms by which fungi naturally inhibit insect growth. It also covered the role of plant extracts in pest management.
The seminar recommended using fungi in the form of fungal suspensions and incorporating plant extracts within integrated pest management programs, contributing to reducing environmental damage and enhancing agricultural productivity.
