University of Basrah Organizes a Scientific Trip to Mount Sinam
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah organized a scientific trip to study the unique geology of Mount Sinam, located in the southern part of the governorate.
The trip aimed to conduct a specialized geological study to understand the rock layers and distinctive phenomena of this unique site.
Activities during the trip included examining geological formations, analyzing geological phenomena, studying outcrops and structures such as erosion and sedimentation, collecting rock samples, and recording measurements to develop a comprehensive understanding of the region’s geological history.
The head of the scientific team, Dr. Wissam Razzak Matashar, stated that the trip to Mount Sinam is part of broader efforts to rediscover this landmark, which combines rare geological phenomena with environmental, touristic, and historical significance. The initiative also focuses on transforming the site into a natural reserve, an eco-friendly location, and an attractive destination for tourism in Basrah.
