University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on Breast Cancer
The College of Education in Qurna at the University of Basrah organized an awareness seminar entitled “Breast Cancer: Symptoms, Diagnosis, and Prevention” as part of the activities for Pink October, dedicated to breast cancer awareness.
The seminar aimed to promote health awareness regarding breast cancer, emphasize the importance of increasing recovery rates, and enhance students’ and staff members’ understanding of disease prevention and risk reduction.
The seminar included a lecture delivered by several female faculty members of the college, which covered the definition of breast cancer, its symptoms, modern diagnostic and treatment methods for both genders, as well as differentiating between benign and malignant tumors and addressing the health and psychological effects of delayed early detection. Awareness brochures were also distributed to attendees to reinforce their health knowledge.
The seminar concluded by emphasizing the importance of monthly self-examinations and regular medical check-ups to detect any potential changes early, noting that early diagnosis is the most crucial step toward achieving high recovery rates and facilitating the treatment journey for patients.
