A Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines Petroleum Hydrocarbons in the Shatt Al-Arab
A master’s thesis submitted to the College of Science at the University of Basrah investigated the levels of petroleum hydrocarbons in the northern part of the Shatt Al-Arab.
The thesis, presented by the student Huda Abdul Ameer Abdul Raouf, aimed to assess the concentrations of various types of petroleum hydrocarbons, including aliphatic and aromatic compounds, and to identify their potential sources.
The thesis comprised four chapters in which the researcher discussed hazardous petroleum compounds in the Shatt Al-Arab and highlighted their dangers, particularly their tendency to accumulate in the tissues of living organisms and transfer to humans through the food chain.
