Scientific Study at the University of Basrah Examines Water Quality and Nutrient Indicators
A scientific study conducted by Dr. Maytham Abdullah Ghali, a faculty member at the College of Science, University of Basrah, investigated the water quality of the Shatt Al-Arab channel using nutrient and pollution indicators.
The study, published in the IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, which is indexed in Scopus, revealed that the Shatt Al-Arab channel is experiencing significant deterioration in water quality due to the continuous discharge of large quantities of untreated wastewater.
The research included an assessment of the water quality of the Shatt Al-Arab channel through the application of a set of environmental and pollution indicators that reflect the environmental status of the targeted water body.
