University of Basrah Organizes a Lecture on Compiling the Iraqi Environmental Encyclopedia
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah organized a scientific lecture entitled “Fundamentals of Writing the Iraqi Environmental Encyclopedia: The Marine Environment Volume.”
The lecture aimed to establish a reliable scientific reference that contributes to enhancing scientific research, raising awareness of the importance of marine biodiversity, and supporting efforts to conserve marine resources.
The lecture, delivered by Dr. Hassan Khalil Hassan, provided an extensive overview of environmental encyclopedias as organized scientific references that offer well-documented and comprehensive information on environmental concepts and issues. These encyclopedias serve as essential tools for education, research, and evidence-based environmental decision-making. The lecturer also focused on the fundamental steps involved in compiling an environmental encyclopedia, the adopted scientific methodology, and the most effective approaches to collecting, documenting, and presenting marine topics, ranging from microscopic organisms to large marine mammals.
