University of Basrah Examines a Master’s Thesis on Measuring X-ray Doses Using Thermoluminescent Technology
The College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Basrah examined a master’s thesis on measuring X-ray doses in dental clinics in Basrah Governorate using thermoluminescent technology.
The thesis aimed to investigate variations in radiation dose levels among the surveyed sites. The results revealed differences in radiation exposure levels between clinics, with some approaching the internationally recommended limits due to several factors, including the design of control rooms and working practices.
The thesis, presented by researcher Manal Kazem Khaber, involved measuring radiation exposure for dentists and their assistants using dosimeters that were distributed over a three-month period.
The study concluded that the highest levels of exposure were recorded among dentists compared with other staff members, while remaining within the permissible limits.
