University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on the Role of Nanotechnology in Promoting Sustainable Development
The Polymer Research Center at the University of Basrah organized a workshop on "The Role of Nanotechnology in Promoting Sustainable Development: Applications in LED Manufacturing."
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of adopting nanotechnology-based solutions in developing modern LED technologies, aligning with global trends toward achieving environmental and economic sustainability.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Mohammed Tawfiq, addressed the pivotal role of nanotechnology in promoting sustainable development concepts. It reviewed advanced applications in LED manufacturing, explained the scientific principles of nanomaterials and their unique physical and chemical properties, and how these can be used to improve optical efficiency and increase the photovoltaic conversion factor. The workshop also discussed nanotechnology's contribution to extending the operational lifespan of lighting sources, reducing energy consumption and operating costs, and minimizing the environmental impact of manufacturing and use processes. It emphasized the role of nanofabrication techniques in reducing polluting emissions and supporting the transition to environmentally friendly lighting systems.
