University of Basrah Organizes Scientific Workshop on the Role of DNA and Genetic Diversity
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled "Mitochondrial DNA as a Molecular Tool for Analyzing Genetic Diversity and Evolutionary Relationships in Living Organisms."
The workshop, presented by Dr. Noor Majid Awad and faculty member Zahraa Riyadh Mahmoud, aimed to highlight the strategic importance of mitochondrial DNA in modern genetic studies and to demonstrate its role in revealing genetic variations and analyzing evolutionary relationships.
The workshop included an explanation of the unique properties of this molecule, the mechanisms for using genetic markers, and a review of the latest research applications in the biological and agricultural fields, as well as related computational technologies.
