PhD Dissertation at the University of Basrah Explores the Relationship between Gene Expression and Production Performance
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah examined a PhD dissertation entitled “The Relationship Between the Gene Expression of FADS1 and COX-2 Genes and Production Performance and the Emergence of Some Muscle Disorders in ROSS 308 Broiler Chickens Raised at Different Stocking Densities.”
The dissertation, presented by researcher Ma’rib Abbas Jaber Al-Kurdi, aimed to study the correlation between the gene expression of these two genes and the emergence of pectoralis major muscle stiffness disorder and white fat streak disorder.
The study concluded that a stocking density of 15 birds/square meter had a clear effect on the occurrence of some histological changes associated with the aforementioned disorders.
