President of the University of Basrah Chairs Meeting of Deans of Iraqi Colleges of Agriculture to Enhance Academic Performance and Support Food Security
The President of the University of Basrah, Professor Dr. Muhand Jawad Kazim Al-Asadi, chaired a meeting of the Committee of Deans of Colleges of Agriculture at Iraqi universities. The meeting was hosted by the University of Basrah, represented by the College of Agriculture, with broad participation from deans of agricultural colleges across Iraq.
In his opening remarks, the University President stated that the meeting represents an important scientific and strategic platform for exchanging academic expertise and unifying scientific visions among counterpart colleges. He emphasized that the integration of academic efforts forms the foundation for updating curricula and advancing scientific research in line with global developments in the agricultural sector.
Al-Asadi highlighted the pivotal role played by colleges of agriculture at the present stage as a fundamental pillar in achieving national food security, particularly in light of the environmental and climatic challenges facing the country. He stressed the necessity of formulating scientific and practical solutions to address water scarcity and desertification, and to enhance the sustainability of natural resources.
The meeting witnessed discussions on a number of scientific and organizational themes aimed at improving the reality of agricultural education and strengthening joint cooperation among Iraqi universities, in a manner that serves national development plans.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of the University of Basrah praised the distinguished efforts exerted by the Deanship of the College of Agriculture and the organizing committees in the preparation and organization of the meeting, commending their role in the success of this academic gathering. He reaffirmed the university’s continued support for all scientific initiatives that contribute to the development of higher education and the advancement of development sectors in Iraq.
