University of Basrah Holds Scientific Symposium on Puberty Disorders
The Department of Pediatrics at the College of Medicine, University of Basrah, held a scientific symposium on puberty disorders: Is it too late to address them at an early age?
The symposium aimed to discuss several topics related to puberty disorders in children.
The symposium included an introduction to the importance of monitoring weight gain in children, as it is one of the direct causes of precocious puberty, especially in recent years. This is due to changes in lifestyle and children's diets, which lead to significant weight gain and subsequent future complications, including the risks of type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, and precocious puberty.
The symposium recommended the necessity of monitoring the signs of puberty in children, observing their physiological age, and comparing it with the degree of delay in puberty development in boys and girls.
