PhD Dissertation at the University of Basrah Examines an Wnvironmental Study of Zooplankton in Khor Al-Zubair
A PhD dissertation at the College of Agriculture, University of Basrah, entitled "An Environmental Study of Zooplankton in Khor Al-Zubair," examined the biodiversity of these organisms and its environmental implications.
The study, presented by researcher Alaa Abdul-Ali Maitham, aimed to identify zooplankton species using two types of nets for the first time in Iraq, with openings of 50 and 100 micrometers. It also aimed to identify peak seasons and study the influencing environmental factors.
The study included measuring biomass using three methods: wet weight, dry weight, displacement volume, and standing crop. Additionally, it calculated diversity indices and compared them across different study stations, contributing to the advancement of environmental studies of water bodies.
