University of Basrah Completes Taxidermy of New Bird Species
The Natural History Museum at the University of Basrah completed the taxidermy of two new bird specimens—a turkey and a swan—as part of its ongoing efforts to develop its scientific exhibits and enhance its educational and documentary content.
These works aimed to enrich the museum's collection with biological specimens preserved according to established scientific principles. This contributes to supporting the educational and research process and allows students and visitors to closely examine the physical characteristics of these birds.
The taxidermy process involved precise artistic and technical stages to ensure the scientifically sound preservation of the specimens and their continued use for explanation, teaching, and museum display.
This step is part of a series of activities the museum continues to implement to update its exhibits and develop its educational environment, thereby strengthening its role in disseminating scientific knowledge and raising awareness of the importance of biodiversity.
