Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines the Diagnosis of Ringworm in Cats
A master’s thesis at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Basrah, investigated a clinical and diagnostic study of ringworm in cats in Basrah Governorate.
The thesis, submitted by the student Noor Al-Huda Khalaf Abdulrahman, aimed to document cases of dermatophytosis in cats within the governorate.
The thesis consisted of four chapters in which the researcher discussed the prevalence of infection among male cats and younger age groups (less than nine months old), in addition to examining the effectiveness of the Wood’s lamp in preliminary diagnosis and the role of molecular analysis in understanding epidemiological patterns.
The study recommended intensifying molecular and epidemiological research in Iraq, alongside launching awareness campaigns for pet owners and adopting unified national programs to reduce the transmission of infection, particularly among children.
