University of Basrah Organizes a Training Course on the Use of Principal Component Analysis (PCA)
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah organized a training course entitled “Using Statistical Software for Environmental and Biological Data: Principal Component Analysis (PCA) – Multivariate Analysis.”
The course aimed to enable researchers to transform complex environmental and biological data into clear and applicable insights, whether for understanding natural systems or addressing applied research problems.
The course, delivered by Dr. Ali Taha Yassin, included training on the use of statistical software, particularly XLSTAT, to perform PCA. It also covered the interpretation of eigenvalues and eigenvectors, as well as the projection of samples and variables onto graphical plots, while emphasizing the importance of understanding the conditions for proper application in order to avoid misuse.
