Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines the Growth Response of Indian Mustard under Plant Density Conditions
A master’s thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Basrah, investigated the growth response, yield, and quality of Indian mustard under phosphatic and potassium fertilization influenced by plant density.
The thesis, submitted by researcher Anfal Amin Khudhair, aimed to determine the optimal combination of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, as well as the most suitable planting distance to achieve ideal plant density, in addition to studying the interaction effects on plant growth, seed yield, and oil quality.
The study included nine fertilizer combinations and two planting distances.
The thesis recommended adopting 80 kg P ha⁻¹ and 60 kg K₂O ha⁻¹ with a planting distance of 40 cm between plants, along with testing multiple cultivars to increase both the quantity and quality of oil production.
