University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on Insulin Resistance
The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah organized a workshop on the concept of insulin resistance.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the treatment of insulin resistance and ways to prevent the disorder from progressing to Type 2 diabetes and atherosclerotic diseases.
The session included a lecture delivered by faculty member Hiba Dawood, who explained that insulin resistance occurs when the body’s cells do not respond properly to insulin, prompting the pancreas to secrete larger amounts of the hormone in order to maintain normal blood sugar levels.
