University of Basrah Continues Planting and Afforestation Campaigns
As a continuation of the "Our Environment is More Beautiful with Our Hands" campaign for cleaning and afforestation, the Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Directorate of Agriculture, continued its major afforestation campaign in the center's indoor and outdoor gardens.
The campaign aimed to enhance environmental sustainability both inside and outside the center, contributing to an ideal university atmosphere. This included direct monitoring to ensure the sustainability of the vegetation by applying technical standards in selecting tree species and their geographical distribution to serve the urban plan of the center and the university.
The center's Director General, Dr. Abdul-Amir Raheem Jassim, stated that their role does not end with the campaign's conclusion. The center's administration has developed a periodic plan for monitoring, watering, and pruning to ensure the continued vibrancy of the gardens and their appearance, reflecting the university's civilized image.
