University of Basrah Explores Environmental Cooperation with Relevant Departments
The Natural History Museum at the University of Basrah met with a delegation from the Southern Region Environment Department to discuss avenues for joint cooperation and to enhance efforts aimed at protecting the environment and supporting awareness and scientific activities.
The visit aimed to discuss mechanisms for joint work in the areas of environmental education, organizing scientific events, and exchanging expertise to contribute to raising environmental awareness among various segments of society.
The meeting included an agreement to prepare a joint cooperation protocol between the two parties, aimed at implementing programs and initiatives concerned with preserving the environment and protecting biodiversity, as well as supporting related research and awareness activities.
Dr. Shatha Mohammed Hamza, the museum's director, stated that the museum places great importance on the issue of protecting endangered animal species. She pointed out that the museum's exhibits of these creatures represent a scientific and educational message that contributes to highlighting the importance of protecting them. She noted that this interest aligns with the Environment Department's efforts to preserve biodiversity and promote a culture of conservation.
This step comes as part of the University of Basrah's efforts to expand its network of institutional relationships and strengthen effective partnerships that contribute to serving the environment and society.
