University of Basrah Explores Scientific Solutions to the Stray Dog Phenomenon with the Participation of Specialists
The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a specialized seminar on "Strategies for Reducing the Spread of Stray Dogs," aiming to develop a scientific roadmap to address this growing phenomenon.
The seminar aimed to highlight the health and environmental risks resulting from the increasing number of stray dogs in residential areas and to discuss mechanisms for containing this phenomenon in a way that ensures public safety and ecological balance.
The seminar included scientific lectures presented by faculty members from the Department of Surgery and Obstetrics, who reviewed internationally implemented solutions and their application mechanisms. They commended the government's approach, which relies on academic perspectives to address societal crises using humane and scientifically sound methods.
The seminar recommended the necessity of adopting sustainable scientific programs, including the establishment of dedicated shelters, the implementation of comprehensive vaccination and immunization campaigns, and the intensification of government coordination alongside community awareness campaigns to reduce the risks of this phenomenon and ensure ecological balance.
