University of Basrah Organizes the “Shanashil of Iraqi Cities” Festival
The College of Arts at the University of Basrah organized a festival entitled “The Geography of Iraqi Heritage Between Place and Identity: From the Civilization of Mesopotamia to the Shanashil of Iraqi Cities.”
The festival aimed to present perspectives and ideas that contribute to raising awareness of the importance of preserving cultural and historical heritage and highlighting its role in supporting cultural tourism and strengthening national identity.
The festival featured a variety of activities addressing the relationship between place and civilizational identity, and showcased aspects of Iraqi heritage extending from the civilizations of Mesopotamia to the distinctive architectural style of the shanashil found in Iraqi cities.
