The College of Administration and Economics in Al-Qurna at University of Basrah organized a scientific seminar entitled “Recent Developments in the Global Economy and Their Impact on the Iraqi Economy.”
The seminar aimed to analyze the most prominent ongoing global economic transformations and to examine their repercussions on developing economies in general, and on the Iraqi economy in particular, in light of changes related to energy prices, global inflation, international monetary policies, and supply chains.
The seminar, delivered by Dr. Amjad Sabah Abdul-Aali, Dr. Ahmed Saddam Abdul-Wahed, and Lecturer Ali Talib Shihab, provided a scientific assessment of global macroeconomic indicators and explored potential scenarios for the trajectory of the international economy. It also addressed the challenges facing the Iraqi economy amid its rent-based dependence, as well as strategies to promote economic diversification, achieve financial stability, and support pathways toward sustainable development.
The speakers emphasized the importance of adopting flexible economic policies grounded in scientific analysis of international variables, and stressed the need to develop institutional response mechanisms to enhance the national economy’s capacity to adapt to external shocks and maintain economic balance in the medium and long term.
