Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines the Impact of Governance Principles on Financial Performance
A master's thesis at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Basrah, examined the impact of applying governance principles on the financial performance of institutions, using the Iraqi Oil Tankers Company as a case study for the period 2015–2024.
The thesis, submitted by student Hussein Ali Kamel at the University of Basra, aimed to measure the impact of governance principles through two phases. The first phase relied on descriptive and financial analysis to assess the level of application and performance, while the second phase employed statistical analysis to develop a standard model represented by a weighted composite governance index.
The thesis recommended adopting a unified methodology for constructing a governance index to measure institutional commitment and enhance their financial performance.
