A PhD Dissertation at the University of Basrah Examines the Response of Rye Wheat Varieties to Planting Dates and Seeding Rates
A PhD dissertation at the College of Agriculture, University of Basrah, investigated the response of rye wheat varieties to planting dates and seeding rates under the conditions of Basra Governorate.
The study, presented by researcher Ali Adnan Hassouni Al-Hajami, aimed to determine the most suitable planting date, the optimal seeding rate, and the most efficient varieties to achieve the highest yield of green and dry fodder and grain as a dual-purpose crop.
The results showed the superiority of the October 20th planting date and a seeding rate of 160 kg/ha for grain production and 180 kg/ha for fodder production, with the 'Farah' variety being particularly noteworthy.
The study recommended expanding its cultivation due to its suitability to the conditions of southern Iraq.
