University of Basrah Promotes Health Awareness: Lecture on Drugs and Psychotropic Substances
The Department of Internal Affairs organized an awareness lecture entitled "Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and Methods of Prevention" in cooperation with the University's Psychological Counseling Center. The lecture was attended by students and specialists in the field.
The lecture aimed to promote a safe university environment, support healthy behaviors among students, and raise awareness about the dangers of drugs and their various effects.
The lecture, presented by faculty member Lamia Subhi Nasser, addressed the scientific, psychological, and social aspects related to drugs and psychotropic substances. She explained their types and their direct and indirect effects on mental and physical health, as well as their negative repercussions on family and social stability. She also highlighted the main factors that may lead some individuals to use drugs, emphasizing the importance of early awareness and the role of preventative education in reducing the spread of this phenomenon.
