University of Basrah Organizes Symposium on Fish Farming in Basra
The Basra and Arabian Gulf Studies Center at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the College of Agriculture, organized a scientific symposium entitled "Fish Farming in Basra," with official and academic participation.
The symposium aimed to highlight the current state of marine aquaculture in Basra Governorate, demonstrate the available natural resources for its development, and discuss the challenges facing this vital sector and ways to promote it as a significant contributor to the local economy.
The symposium included several sessions addressing the current state of marine aquaculture in Basra, the scientific aspects related to feed and nutritional requirements of farmed marine fish and their impact on improving production and reducing costs, as well as presenting the fish species suitable for aquaculture in the governorate's marine environment. Scientific discussions also emphasized the importance of supporting fish farming projects and enhancing their role in achieving sustainable economic development.
