University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on the Impact of Arab Journalism on the Gulf States
The Basra and Arabian Gulf Studies Center at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled "The Impact of Arab Journalism on the Reform Movement in Bahrain during the 1930s."
The seminar aimed to highlight the role of Arab journalism, particularly Iraqi, Egyptian, Syrian, and Lebanese media, as well as the contributions of Radio Qasr al-Zuhur in Iraq and Radio Cairo in Egypt, in supporting reform advocates in Bahrain during the 1930s.
The seminar, presented by Dr. Farqad Dawood Salman, included a documented historical overview of the nature of press coverage and radio programs supporting the reform movement and how they contributed to the establishment of a legislative council, the reform of the customs and municipal affairs systems, and the founding of a union for Bahraini workers employed by the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO).
