PhD Thesis at the University of Basrah Investigates Environmental Study of Certain Invertebrates in Khor Al-Zubair
A PhD thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Basrah, entitled “Environmental Study of Certain Invertebrates in Khor Al-Zubair” was conducted.
The thesis, submitted by researcher Hanan Abdul Hafiz Ali, aimed to identify the major invertebrates in the Khor Al-Zubair area, determine their peak seasons, examine selected environmental factors, and calculate diversity indices for the studied organisms, comparing them across different sampling stations.
The study concluded that Khor Al-Zubair suffers from significant pollution, which has affected the presence and density of species.
The researcher recommended the necessity of pollution mitigation and continuous environmental monitoring to preserve the region’s animal biodiversity.
