University of Basrah Organizes Awareness Seminar for Parents
In implementation of the National Strategy to Combat Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism, the Basra Governorate Subcommittee organized an awareness seminar for parents entitled "Strengthening the Role of the Family in Monitoring the Intellectual and Behavioral Development of Children." The seminar was held at the Central Public Library of the Governorate, as part of a series of initiatives and programs aimed at enhancing community awareness and highlighting the importance of the role of families and parent-teacher associations in intellectually safeguarding students.
The seminar aimed to demonstrate the importance of integrated roles between families and educational institutions in disseminating the principles of moderation, tolerance, and acceptance of others, promoting a culture of peaceful coexistence, and rejecting hate speech. This contributes to building a strong and cohesive society based on awareness and shared responsibility.
The seminar, presented by Dr. Hiba Majeed Issa, addressed the concept of violent extremism, its causes and types, and its dangers to security and social peace. It also reviewed methods of combating and preventing it through the family's role in early monitoring and observing intellectual and behavioral indicators in children.
