A master’s thesis at the University of Basrah has examined the historical dynamism of concepts and their visual representations in global painting.
Conducted at the College of Fine Arts, the thesis—entitled “The Historical Dynamism of Concepts and Their Visual Representations in World Painting”—explores the evolving trajectories of artistic thought and imagery within the broader context of art history.
The study, submitted by Samah Ahibini Ashour, aimed to elucidate the mechanisms and manifestations of historical transformation as reflected in the visual reading of artistic works.
The thesis addressed the question of how conceptual shifts across different historical periods are embodied in pictorial forms within global painting traditions.
It concluded that assemblage art is distinguished by its capacity to integrate diverse and heterogeneous elements drawn from reality or the surrounding environment, reconfiguring them into a new composition.
