University of Basrah Holds an Online Workshop on the Art of Speaking and Persuasion from an Arabic Language Perspective
The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the College of Education for Women, held an online workshop on the art of speaking and persuasion in counseling sessions from an Arabic language perspective.
The workshop aimed to introduce participants to speaking and persuasion skills within counseling sessions and how to utilize the Arabic language to achieve a positive psychological impact on the client.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Rafif Abdul-Hafiz Al-Riyahi and faculty member Zahraa Abbas Abdul-Amir, covered the concept of counseling speaking and its importance, the characteristics of the Arabic language that influence counseling, speaking skills within counseling sessions, persuasion techniques in counseling sessions, and common mistakes in counseling speaking.
The workshop recommended the necessity of training students and counselors in practical speaking skills, employing the beauty of the Arabic language in psychological counseling, incorporating skills-based courses into counselor training programs, increasing practical activities and simulations, and promoting a culture of calm dialogue within educational institutions.
