University of Basrah Holds Lecture on the Reality of Standard Arabic in the Digital Age
The Center for Development and Continuing Education, in cooperation with the College of Education for Women, held a lecture entitled "The Reality of Standard Arabic in the Digital Age." The lecture addressed the rapid transformations in the digital environment and their impact on the Arabic language.
The lecture aimed to highlight the role of the language as a tool for knowledge creation and identity formation, given the widespread use of social media and digital platforms, and the resulting challenges and opportunities for Standard Arabic.
The lecture, presented by faculty member Sarah Abdul-Kadhim Zughair, included a review of the most prominent linguistic, social, and educational challenges, the weakness of specialized digital content, and proposed practical solutions to support the presence of Arabic in the digital sphere.
