University of Basrah Organizes a Course on Soil Assessment
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah organized a specialized course entitled "Methods of Taking Representative Soil Samples of the Field or Land Area to be Studyed and Methods of Physical and Morphological Analysis of Soils."
The course aimed to qualify participants and provide them with the necessary scientific and practical knowledge to study soil accurately, starting from how to represent the cultivated area to understanding its physical properties.
The course, presented by faculty member Hala Ali Shabar, covered several topics, including methods of taking representative soil samples, explaining the scientific methodologies for selecting sites and taking soil samples that accurately reflect the characteristics of the field or targeted land area, training in laboratory techniques for determining the physical properties of the soil, and introducing participants to how to describe the land profile (morphology) and identify different soil horizons.
