Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Investigates Nutrient Concentrations in Shatt al-Arab Sediments
A master's thesis at the College of Marine Sciences, University of Basrah, investigated nutrient concentrations in the sediments and waters of the southern part of the Shatt al-Arab estuary and the northwestern Arabian Gulf.
The thesis, submitted by student Noor Hamid Fakher, aimed to measure nutrient concentrations in the waters and sediments of the Shatt al-Arab and the northwestern Arabian Gulf, including nitrites, nitrates, phosphates, and silica, which are among the most important catalysts for the growth and proliferation of phytoplankton.
The thesis comprised four chapters in which the student discussed the most important physical and chemical properties of the waters in the region.
