Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores the Statistical Estimation of the Risk Function
A master's thesis at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Basrah, explored the use of mixed distributions to estimate the risk function, with an applied study.
The thesis, submitted by student Istabraq Jawad Kadhim, aimed to propose new statistical distributions resulting from the mixing of several mixed distributions, deriving their statistical properties and estimating the risk function using three different methods. The study included statistical simulations based on the rank method, as well as the use of real data in the applied study.
This involved selecting default values for the parameters and generating data using the accept/reject method.
The thesis concluded that the maximum likelihood method was the best for estimation, followed by the least squares method, and then the Kramer-von Meese method in the applied study.
