University of Basrah Launches Large-Scale Tree Planting Campaign with Participation of All Colleges and Centers
The University of Basrah launched a large-scale tree planting campaign on Thursday, 12 March 2026, aimed at expanding and rehabilitating green spaces across its various campuses. The initiative is part of the University’s efforts to promote environmental sustainability and create a healthy and sustainable educational environment.
The President of the University of Basrah, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazem Al-Asadi, stated that the initiative comes within the framework of the University’s strategy to expand green areas and rehabilitate gardens across its facilities, contributing to improving the campus environment and raising environmental awareness among students and faculty members.
He added that the campaign witnessed the participation of all university colleges and research centers, reflecting the spirit of cooperation and shared responsibility among the University’s staff and students in supporting environmental initiatives and preserving the beauty of the campus.
He further noted that the University of Basrah seeks through such initiatives to become a leading model in environmental sustainability and the preservation of natural resources.
