University of Basrah Organizes Seminar on Intellectual Warfare: Methods and Impacts
The College of Dentistry at the University of Basrah organized an educational seminar titled “Intellectual Warfare: Its Methods and Impacts,” as part of its efforts to enhance cultural and intellectual awareness among the university community.
The seminar was delivered by Sheikh Jameel Kabar Khasaf from the Imam Hussein Cultural Center, affiliated with the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine. It addressed the concept of intellectual warfare as a form of conflict that targets minds and behaviors through indirect means, relying on subtle influence and the gradual, concealed alteration of beliefs without resorting to direct confrontation.
The speaker highlighted the seriousness of this type of warfare in light of digital openness and the rapid flow of information, explaining that its effects may be deeper than those of conventional wars due to the transformations it can cause in identity, values, and the general orientations of society.
The seminar emphasized that confronting intellectual warfare requires intellectual preparedness based on awareness, analysis, and constructive criticism, in addition to understanding the nature of challenges and their sources.
