A Faculty Member at the University of Basrah Publishes a Research Paper in a Prestigious International Journal
Dr. Abdulzahra Abdulrasool Al-Hilu, a faculty member at the Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah, has published a joint scientific research paper with a group of researchers entitled “Water Resources in Southern Iraq: Current Status, Future Developments, Challenges, and Potential Solutions” in the international journal Hydrology. The journal is classified within the first quartile (Q1) with an impact factor of 3.2 and is published by the Swiss publishing house MDPI. It specializes in publishing original and applied research on the distribution, movement, and quality of water on Earth, including groundwater, surface water, and atmospheric water, with a focus on hydrological cycle processes, ecohydrology, and water resources management.
The research reviewed previous studies that summarize the current situation, analyze the major challenges, and explore a range of potential solutions. The analysis presented in the study is considered essential for guiding advanced research efforts, as it provides a deeper understanding of the existing challenges, proposes practical solutions, and identifies key directions for future research aimed at addressing the water crisis.
