PhD Dissertation at the University of Basrah Explores Pest Control in Okra and Phosphorus
A PhD dissertation at the College of Agriculture, University of Basrah, investigated two scientific topics: the integrated control of okra leafhoppers using certain insecticides and silicon compounds, and the effect of different phosphorus application methods on the growth and yield of two wheat varieties cultivated in desert regions.
The dissertation, submitted by researcher Salam Hamid Abdullah Al-Aidi, aimed to identify the best control methods and appropriate fertilization techniques.
The results showed that the Baghdad variety outperformed other varieties in terms of growth characteristics and yield, and that foliar spraying achieved the best results.
The study recommended adopting this method to increase productivity and improve quality.
