University of Basrah Professor Receives Patent for Diesel Engine Improvement
Dr. Salem Ajjar Bandar, Head of the Department of Agricultural Machinery and Equipment at the College of Agriculture, University of Basrah, has been granted a patent for his design entitled "Replacing the Cylinder Head Gasket with Metal and Teflon Rings in a Single-Cylinder Four-Stroke Diesel Engine."
This innovation is an engineering solution to address the problem of gas and liquid leakage by employing a mechanism that separates the sealing functions using metal and plastic rings.
It includes precise mechanical modifications that contribute to achieving a tight and sustainable seal. This design is expected to improve engine efficiency, increase operational reliability, extend engine life, and reduce maintenance costs.
